Tune Before You Hunt: Why Blade Alignment Technology™ Gives You an Edge

Tune Before You Hunt: Why Blade Alignment Technology™ Gives You an Edge

Flight Isn’t Just About Speed—It’s About Stability

A fast bow is only as effective as the arrow it sends. But every seasoned archer knows that what works in the backyard with a field tip doesn’t always hold up in the field with a fixed-blade broadhead. That frustrating difference often comes down to one thing: blade alignment. Even the most advanced compound or crossbow platform can’t overcome the instability introduced by poorly oriented blades.

Innerloc’s patented Blade Alignment Technology™ (BAT) was created to eliminate that variable and give hunters true precision from setup to harvest. By letting you control exactly how your broadhead blades align with your arrow vanes or bolt indexing, BAT allows every arrow to fly predictably, just like your practice tip.

Why Traditional Fixed Blades Cause Problems

The aerodynamics of fixed-blade broadheads make them highly effective on impact but tricky in flight. The moment they leave the string, exposed blades create drag. If those blades are not properly aligned with your arrow’s vanes or spine, but mainly the same arrow to arrow, that drag becomes asymmetric. The result?

  • Poor grouping at 30+ yards
  • Horizontal or vertical drift from one arrow to the next
  • Sensitivity to crosswinds and form inconsistencies
  • Tuning frustrations that burn up range time and erode shooter confidence

These issues aren’t signs of poor form or bad arrows—they’re often the result of misaligned blades from one arrow to the next. For fixed blades, flight starts with alignment.

What Is Blade Alignment Technology™?

Blade Alignment Technology™ is Innerloc’s proprietary system that allows micro-adjustment of blade orientation before fully locking the broadhead in place. Unlike glued or static heads, BAT uses patented systems to give hunters a tunable interface, without compromising strength.

How it works for Slice:

  1. Install the broadhead on your arrow or bolt shaft
  2. Loosen the tip slightly—just enough to allow blade rotation.
  3. Align the blades with your arrow’s vanes, spine, or bolt indexing.
  4. Tighten the tip back down, locking the alignment in place.

This simple procedure transforms every fixed-blade setup into a precision-matched system. When every arrow has the same vane-to-blade orientation, they don’t just fly well—they group.

How it works for Carbon Tuner/Falcon:

  1. Install the broadhead on your arrow or bolt shaft; note the rotation adjustment needed
  2. Remove broadhead from arrow—insert hex key into tuning stud.
  3. Rotate the tuning stud to alter alignment.
  4. Reinstall the broadhead and check alignment; repeat steps 1–3 until alignment is correct.

Real-World Impact: Why Alignment Matters in the Field

When you’re 35 yards from a broadside buck or holding for a frontal shot on an elk in timber, the last thing you need is aerodynamic drag throwing off your impact. The farther the distance, the more any misalignment magnifies, especially under wind or less-than-perfect release conditions. BAT-equipped heads help mitigate those risks by optimizing flight from the start.

The advantages:

  • Make all arrows/bolts the same: By aligning your fixed blades with vanes, you mimic in-flight behavior shot to shot
  • Improved Wind Resistance: Blade alignment makes you more consistent on longer shots.
  • Consistent Grouping: Hunters report repeatable arrow paths, tighter spreads, and higher first-shot confidence
  • Time Efficiency: Spend less time fighting tuning headaches and more time scouting, shooting, or hunting

Whether it’s pre-season range days or in-season second chances, BAT improves your odds every time the bow comes to full draw.

Compatible Broadheads With BAT

Nobody makes alignable broadheads, but Innerloc designs for tunability from the ground up. Our fixed blade models that feature Blade Alignment Technology™ include:

  • Slice™ 3-Blade: Our toughest 3-blade head with .027″ stainless blades, available in 100 grains
  • Falcon 100: A short-profile Center Locking System head with tight grouping performance at high speeds
  • Carbon Tuner: Designed for all setups and carbon shaft micro-tuning

All three models use our Center Locking System™, which unifies tip, ferrule, and blades into a solid, field-replaceable unit. That means you can align blades without risking wobble or structural weakness.

Compound vs. Crossbow: Custom Tuning for Your Platform

Compound Shooters:
Align your broadhead blades with your arrow vanes so your broadheads are all oriented consistently, arrow to arrow. This assures any tuning hiccup reacts the same, shot to shot. Micro-alignment becomes more important the farther you shoot.

Crossbow Hunters:
Use BAT to match blade orientation with bolt indexing. Most crossbows feature rail-indexed bolts with fixed fletching—meaning one blade should ideally run parallel to the bolt’s flight axis. This reduces rail bounce and maintains clean bolt flight even over 400+ fps speeds.

What Hunters Are Saying

Field reports from both compound and crossbow users show significant benefits with BAT-equipped heads. Hunters regularly report:

  • 20–40% tighter groups at 40–50 yards
  • Smoother bolt flight in crossbow setups at 390+ fps
  • Fewer tuning sessions are required pre-season
  • More confidence to take longer, ethical shots in varying conditions

From Kansas whitetail setups to Colorado elk camps, BAT is helping hunters stretch their effective range with less stress.

Why Blade Alignment Is Underrated—but Critical

Every hunter talks about arrow spine, broadhead weight, and vane offset. But blade alignment is often overlooked. Yet it’s the final piece of the puzzle that ensures your broadhead doesn’t just fly—it follows your pin.

Especially with modern bows and bolts capable of extreme speeds, even minor aerodynamic imbalances can cause group dispersion. Tuning your blades eliminates this variable. With BAT, your fixed blades no longer act like tiny parachutes—they become part of a balanced flight system.

Final Shot

If you’ve ever dialed in your setup with field tips, only to struggle with broadhead flight later, this is your fix. Innerloc’s Blade Alignment Technology™ lets you take control of your setup in a way that no glue-in, fixed-position head can match.

With BAT, you’re not just tuning your bow—you’re tuning your whole system for accuracy that holds up under pressure, in the wind, and at full draw.
